Hello Atsuki, I see by your comment that you feel very strongly about this issue. I too feel very strongly about it and I think there should be much stronger penalties for this type of criminal behaviour in Australia. Unfortunately, we don't punish them near enough. They often don't even get a jail sentence. As for the death penalty; we no longer have it in Australia. The last person to be hanged in Australia was a man by the name of Ryan and that was way back in February 1967. In order for us to bring back the death penalty we would need to change the law and that would require it being passed through both houses of parliament, i.e., the Senate and the House of Representatives. Even if the Prime Minister wanted to put these criminals to death he couldn't do it. However he could agitate to have the law changed.
